Jean-Michel Basquiat @ Fullerton Museum Center!

August 30, 2013 in Downtown Fullerton Art Walk

On Friday, September 6th, be sure to visit the Fullerton Museum Center, for an eventing of art, music, and poetry. In the main gallery, for the slender price of $2, you can see the latest exhibit, entitled “Jean-Michel Basquiat: an Intimate Portrait.” This exhibit is an intimate look at the friendship between artists Nicholas Taylor and Jean-Michel Basquiat, a camaraderie that was born under the pulsating lights of New York’s famed Mudd Club in 1979. Although countless essays and reviews have been written about Basquiat and his work, these photographs by Nicholas Taylor are the portrait of a man, an artist, and most importantly, a friend. Organized and traveled by the Castellani Art Museum at Niagara University, curated by Michael J. Beam.

Also on display in the Foyer Gallery will be contemporary art inspired by Basquiat including work by GERMS, Franz Criego and Clint Kalima.

In the auditorium, guests can show their creative side at our open mic night! Come join us in our auditorium to listen to poetry – or share your own. Then stick around for the jazz performance! Registration for Open Mic starts at 6pm, show starts at 7pm.

Hope to see you there!
