This month Tranquil Tea Lounge is featuring local artist Matthew Joseph Storing.

MATTHEW JOSEPH STORING

Hi. My name is Matthew Joseph Storing. I live in Fullerton with my girlfriend Lilly and our 2 kids, Athan and Bailey. I bartend at Ziings, right around the corner from Tranquil Tea Lounge, and also at Oggi’s, right in front of Cal State Fullerton.

I’ve been drawing and painting for fun and cathartic reasons since I was a boy. It wasn’t until I lost my job a few years ago and needed to make some money that I started doing art shows. Previously I’ve had my own shows at Max Bloom’s, McClain’s, Cafe West (before it turned into Twisted Paint), and participated in shows like Pancakes and Booze and Chocolate and Art. I’ve always wanted a show at Tranquil, and I’m really excited to be here this month.

Moving to Fullerton 4-5 years ago has had a big impact on my life. I’ve always loved cityscapes, and painting this city is something I keep coming back to. All the paintings you see of the Fox were done before or during renovation.
