Grandeur: a Darwin-Themed Exhibit @ Hibbleton

January 7, 2016 in Downtown Fullerton Art Walk

You are cordially invited to Hibbleton Gallery’s next art exhibit, entitled “Grandeur: Art and Science Explaining Charles Darwin’s Book ‘On the Origin of Species’ With the Intent of Creating a Vivid, Entertaining, and Easily Understood Summary of the Theory of Evolution” curated by Chantal deFelice and Jesse La Tour. The opening reception is Friday, February 5th, 2016 from 6-11pm during the Downtown Fullerton Art Walk. As always, this event is FREE and open to the public.

The genesis of this exhibit was a book report Jesse La Tour wrote after reading Charles Darwin’s “On the Origin of Species,” perhaps the most influential book in the histoy of the natural sciences. Upon completion of this report, La Tour spoke with fellow artist Chantal deFelice, whose artistic interests mainly lie with the natural world and science, particularly the local flora and fauna of her hometown of San Clemente, CA. After some discussion, La Tour and deFelice decided to combine their efforts and curate an art exhibit which combines concise explanations of Darwin’s key arguments with beautiful artworks illustrating these concepts.

Concurrently with the exhibit will be the release of a zine entitled “On the Origin of Species: an Illustrated Book Report” featuring the writings of La Tour and the illustrations of deFelice.

Don’t miss this exciting, and educational, marriage of art and science.
