Lolo Boutique is so excited to share with you the beautiful pottery created by local artist, Sara Shepherd, for the Downtown Fullerton Art Walk on Friday, May 4, 2018 beginning at 6 pm.
Sarah’s Artist Statement:
I was raised surrounded by mid-century architecture which influences my work as well as Moravian Pottery, Malibu tile, Rose Cabar, and Florence Broadhurst. I attended Fullerton and Cypress College and was fortunate to have had William Henke as my instructor. I’ve studied jewelry design as an apprentice to Aram Melkonyan, ninth generation silver and goldsmith and owner of Renaissance Jewelers in Brea.
I’ve recently established my own pottery studio which will allow me to work full time on my pottery. Focusing on form and composition, I prefer to preserve the national fall and form of the clay by hand shaping gentle slopes and curves. My favorite color pallet is exclusively earth tone, with accents of bright colors to replicate such visions as spring flowers in bloom or tropical birds in motion. The function of each piece ranges from fully functional (such as a cup or bowl) to statement pieces (a vase or tileset).
