About Kate:
Orchids are my symbol for strength and beauty in my color garden. My garden is my life space with music. First, I paint the background color with a flat tool. I listen to music and meditate. If I decide a color theme, I start painting. I paint layers of color over and over, many times. Drawing orchids by charcoal is the final step. My major was Oriental Painting. I think my artwork style is a blend of Oriental Contemporary. I studied traditional painting using orchids, bamboo and flowers line drawn with muck. I always doodled orchids. Artifacts and Rituals – Jon St. Amant and Evan Everest at PÄS

PÄS Gallery presents Artifacts and Rituals, a two-person sculpture show featuring the work of Jon St. Amant and Evan Everest.

St. Amant’s work reveals the two major religious factions in his allegorical cartoon ninja series, “Nowhereland”. Identical in philosophy, but differing in aesthetics, the two faiths-Green Mountianity and Red Treeism- clash in a satirical propaganda war.

Everest’s work references disparate concepts, philosophies, and spiritual systems to create pseudo ritualistic drawings, paintings, and sculptures, that are reminiscent of a past or future civilization whose rights of passage, rituals and customs are at once vaguely familiar and impenetrable.

The opening will take place during the Downtown Fullerton Art Walk on Friday, May 4th, and will run until May 26, 2012.

Carpe Diem Experience & Adorned present: [PRIMAVERA] Photography of Jessica Grodowski, Friday April 4th Compassionate, creative, credible are all words that describe this photographer. Jessica selected photography as the art form to capture life in the particular mediumas it is the best way to express whatever she has to say. Through the camera lens Jessica can share all the secret wonderful events that she so loves – that many others have not discovered.

This collection of images is from her summer trip to Seattle. The themes of these photos are adventure and free spirit: the embodiment of spring. Included is the picture titled “love”. This picture speaks volumes because everyone who sees it has their own interpretation of what it conveys. Love is universal. For me love allows freedom even when the walls of circumstances try to surround me.

Stop by JAMS during the Fullerton Art Walk and check out “Organic Biomechanics”, the ink works of local tattoo artist Jon Kelly. Jon will be tattooing a new work of art on-site. We will also be giving FREE (temporary) tattoos for kids and as always FREE photo booth photos for all!

about the artist: Local tattoo artist and Fullerton native. Jon Kelly followed his passion and opened Olde Tyme Tattoo in 2009. Jon has spent the last 12 years perfecting traditional American tattoo art, photo realism and everything in between.

April Exhibit from Secret City Comics Society: Marvel Artist Appearance and Signing – Wade Von Grawbadger

Secret City Comics Society is pleased to host Eisner-award winning artist and Marvel Comics Inker, Wade Von Grawbadger, as its featured artist in April. Wade is best known for this work on 2011′s Marvel Comic Event, Fear Itself, as well as inking other titles, including X-Factor, New Avengers, and Ultimate Spider-Man.

Wade will be in the lobby of Secret City to sign comics and art for his fans on Friday, April 6 from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. If you have any of his comics or artwork, please feel free to bring them for signing. Zero to Hero Comics have graciously provide copies of Marvel Comics Fear Itself, New Avengers and Ultimate Spider-Man and copies of DC Comics Starman for this special event.

There will also be an improv comedy performance by the cast of Secret City Comics Society at 8:00 p.m. Tickets are normally $12.00 but if you purchase a comic book for signing, tickets are $5.00 for that night. In 2011, Secret City Comics Society has named “Best Improv Group” by the OCWeekly.

We’ve come to love René’s anatomy-like oil paintings accentuating human muscles blending like solar systems intertwining within a well-planned composition. It’s poetic. It’s prophetic. It’s so good, it’s puzzling. His work screams motion, punches dimension while possessing an angelic aura. Every piece feels as if it was commissioned by the Pope, his murals are worthy of the Sistine Chapel. April’s exhibit at PÄS Gallery will showcase this self-proclaimed transcendental painter in raw form, mostly ink sketches.

Come enjoy René’s Form Drawing Gestures at a Sunday Champagne Hanging Party, April 1st at 11:30am, complete with poetry readings and be a part of how the show goes up. Then come back for the opening reception which will be held on the first Friday of April to coincide with the Downtown Fullerton Art Walk, April 6, 2012, from 6-10pm.
