Artist Statement:

Many of the subjects of my photography were once cherished. The houses were filled with families who sat on their porches, cooked in their kitchens and played in their yards. The cars were shiny, new and driven home from the dealership by excited owners. New roads ushered in an era of motor travel that carried people West across the country.

At a point in time, these objects were filled with the promise, hopes and dreams of their owners. Now, they lay abandoned and silent, whether it’s an overgrown church window; a rusty car from a bygone era sleeping in the scorching sands of the desert; a motel sign that long ago represented a beacon of refuge to weary travelers; or a railroad crossing sign that warns of a train that will never again come. I aim to capture the beauty that is still intrinsically part of my subjects at a time the earth is slowly taking them back — as it does everything.
